USA322 was built in 1967 by Børresen as SWE227 for Tommy Strømberg of Saltsjöbaden. Ion 1968 she was shipped to Lars Hagglof in Toronto and registered as KC115, Ludmilla. She had a successful racing career in the Great Lakes area, including winning the North American Championships in Toronto in 1972. She was shipped to Kiel for the 1972 Olympics, where, skippered by Allan Leibel and crewed by Frank Hall and Neil Gunn, she came 9th in a fleet of 22. In 1973 she was bought by George Mezo and continued her successful racing career in Toronto. She was sold to Ottawa in 1993, and eventually ended up back in Toronto, where she was bought by David Howard (a former Commodore of the RCYC). David had mounted an extensive search for KC50 Tomahawk, the Dragon he sailed in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. (David sailed in ’56 with his brother Cliff and friend Don Tytler. They came 8th in a fleet of 16.) When David was not able to find the original Tomahawk, he bought Ludmilla in 2014 and restored her as Tomahawk II. Tomahawk II has two cockpit modifications (combing height and corner radius) that would need to be reversed to comply with Class Rules. She has been given a provisional Measurement Certificate noting this. These particular modifications are unlikely to affect One Design intent (all boats equal for racing).
