Nunn Brothers

Harry Nunn along with his brother Ernie Nunn started Nunn Bros Boatyard in 1921 at Waldringfield on the River Deben. The firm has remained in the family and now trades as Seamark Nunn. It took over from Nunn Bros in 1961, emerging as a boat building and chandlery business to support sailing community on the Suffolk and Essex coast. From its inception, the company built a solid reputation for fast racing dinghies in wood and later GRP, and during the late 1960s and 1970s was a favourite builder for the OK Dinghy, Solo and Optimist.

Among the well-known Dragons were K272 Vana which won the Edinburgh Cup and K276 Viking, which also won the Edinburgh Cup, and as Octavia, placed well in the Gold Cup and K338 Ula which won the ESU Trophy and in placed high in the UK Olympic Trials. Rory Bowman also did well with K339 Logie.
